Hello, I'm looking for an attorney who handles private termination of parental rights and adoption in Marion County, Florida. My partner has sole custody of his two children under a New York custody order dated November 2023. The children have lived with us for years, and their biological mother has not made meaningful efforts toward reunification or maintaining a relationship with them, to our knowledge. We previously started a Florida proceeding to register the New York order, but the case was closed after the mother was not served within the required timeframe. We have now located her current address. Our long-term goal is to explore legally terminating the mother's parental rights and having me adopt the children while my partner retains his parental rights. We are not currently married. Our budget is very limited, so I'm looking for a free or low-cost consultation, payment plans, or limited-scope representation if available. Do you handle this type of case, what is your initial consultation fee, and what retainer range should we expect? Thank you.
ReplyMy ex husband and I went through a long 1 & 1/2 year DCF case which closed with mother having custody and the father having 1-2 hours weekly visitation. Due to him having a long history of abuse and substance abuse as well as being diagnosed a paranoid schizophrenic with narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies back in 2014 or 2015 when he lost custody of his children with his first ex wife and his girlfriend being statutorily prohibited from having minors in her care due to drug possession charges. 7/30/2026 we went to court for our dissolution of marriage and final hearing, he had an attorney and I did not. I tried for over a year to find an attorney but no one would help me without an outrageous amount of money or there was a conflict of interest. Needless to say he was granted every other weekend Friday to Monday, alternating holidays and summer break week on week off. My children have been in his home for only 2 weekends, the first was 9/4/26 and the second 9/18/26. He has been verbally, emotionally, mentally abusive toward our oldest daughter who is 15 in front of our toddlers. I need serious help and someone willing to fight for my children.

ReplyWe are having problems with the landlord, every time we ask him to fix something he is always saying no and being rude and we have had to fix things ourselves because he doesn't want too.
ReplyNeed help as a beneficiary of my brothers insurance, annuities, and need help with my brother's insurance, annuity, will. I want to be sure it's all correct. My nephew is sending forms to be signed without any backup information. In one case the case number does not match the name on the annuity.
