Seminole County Bar Association Legal Aid Society Description

Description:

Our free legal services are divided into 1) Advice and Counsel 2) brief services by Staff or Pro Bono Attorneys 3) direct legal representation. 4) Education presentations and workshops

By providing services under this model, our staff can bring the widest range of assistance to the greatest number of eligible residents.

The legal aid society receives many requests for assistance.  In order to efficiently utilize our limited resources, guidelines have been established based on the type of case and financial need.  We try to accommodate as many clients as possible without jeopardizing the high quality of representation.

        Dissolution of Marriage
        Modification of Child Support
        Temporary Custody by Extended Family
        Domestic Violence Injunction
        Paternity
    Guardianship advocacy for disabled adults and children
    Housing Law:
        Mortgage Foreclosure Defense – For Senior Citizens
        Eviction Defense
        Maintenance Issues
    Special Education
    Agency for Persons with Disabilities Benefits applications
    Advanced Directives
    Unemployment Compensation

We do not Assist with:
    Criminal Cases
    Auto Accidents
    Worker’s Compensation
    Medical Malpractice
    Personal Injury
    Civil Rights Claims
    Bankruptcy
    Any fee generating case
    Traffic or DUI cases




Mission Statement: Our program commenced in 1975 to provide free quality legal advocacy to Seminole County’s economically disadvantaged persons.

Many attorneys that assist low income person(s), charge on a sliding fee schedule. For that reason we have added the latest federal poverty levels below so that you can see how much you may be charged if you use this attorney.
